Description:
I have long admired the beauty of Aspens, not realizing until recently their spiritual significance. Aspens are ancient and enduring. They birth generation after generation primarily through their extensive roots. One seedling can eventually expand to tens of thousands of identical stems covering over 100 acres.
Aspens grow only in high altitudes, stretching straight and tall toward the brilliance of the sun. After a fire, they are the first to seed and blossom. But they have a better chance to flourish if the seeds are bunched and grow closely together. When not connected, they are blown and bent by the wind and may become diseased.
We, too, are birthed out of ancient and enduring spiritual roots, destined to prepare a way for the next generations to grow and mature in the high places of His Presence. And we will only thrive and withstand the fires and the heavy winds set against us as we are linked together, first, with the Ancient of Days and then with one another in community and interdependence.
