A new avenue into creative freedom
There is not much I love more than to witness a release and freedom of creativity in the artists who attend my
Fruition
retreats.That's why I ask everyone who comes to begin an art journal if they don't already do so. It's also something that I recommend for anyone facing creative roadblocks.
Just as a written diary is a safe place to express yourself and your feelings, so is an art journal. This is where you throw your haunting perfectionism out the door and learn to play with no inhibitions. It doesn't matter how great or bad you think your art is. Journaling allows you to create without worrying what others may think.
"Painting is just another way of keeping a diary," Picasso said. Let your art journal be your diary. You don't need experience...just perseverance and consistency. A ten minute sketch or doodling each day goes a loooong way. You may even find yourself getting songs, poems, and business strategies once you enter into the creative realm. Be sure to date your page and add pictures or photos that you're drawn to along with any dreams or visions.
Journaling should be a delightful experience, NOT a chore. The Lord, after all, wants us to have fun when we create. He LOVES to show us off to the world if we will simply go for it!
