Stepping out in the "little"
For the past two years the Lord has led me to paint prophetically during worship in conferences across the country. Often I'm given a glimpse of what to paint and even sometimes a full impression. On occasion, the Lord requires me to step out in complete faith. I usually pray extra hard something like, "Oh, God, PLEASE show up. Can you give me at least some colors?"
 I have learned to not allow a fear of man or spirit of performance to hinder what He is doing. Recently, it was one of those "faith" nights so I resigned myself to simply play with the colors He gave me until His message took form. It began looking something like a burning bush; then it became fiery and volcanic in appearance. As my art took form on the canvas, the conference speaker began declaring that doubt and unbelief were buried deep in the gut of many and that it was time to blast that out! A little later he began talking about volcanoes...a reference that greatly increased my faith in hearing God to achieve His purposes with art.
The painting, which I aptly entitled Eruption, now made complete sense. Words are easily forgotten, but they say a picture paints a thousand words. Be encouraged to step out in the little He gives you. He is ALWAYS faithful. |
