The promise of life in God's seed
I love to hear real life stories that express what I am trying to paint on canvas. Last month I was painting at a gathering in Sayre, Oklahoma,trying to use color and strokes to express the promise of undying life we receive when our spirits are born from above and impregnated with God's DNA. Regardless of what life appears like on the outside, His seed remains alive and growing inside us with all His potential and fullness.
A gentleman at the conference wrote me how my oak tree in Born From Above was a parallel to his spiritual life:
"I planted an oak tree in my yard about ten years ago and for the first eight years it would look really bad one year and usually die the next year. I would chop it down or simply snap it off at the ground. But from what appeared to be dead, a shoot would come out of the earth and begin to grow.
"In those eight years the tree died at least four times. Each time it would have a shoot come up and grow quickly, only to become stunted and soon die. But two years ago a shoot came back from underground and didn't wither and die. It has prospered and grown to around eight feet tall with huge beautiful leaves on it. What the Lord showed me was that for the first eight years there was much turmoil and division in my house, but for the last two years this house has been peaceful and filled with love and with the Father."
I hope that even if you are in the midst of situations that seem lifeless and impossible, you will remember that His seed is in you--with all that is necessary to bring forth a mature and fruitful life.
