Faith to Create
Eight talented women pulled out of my driveway on Sunday afternoon after the March Releasing the Art and Creativity Retreat. Three days earlier, their faith to create had brought them here from several different states and as far away as Hawaii.
Faith Release
The blank canvases they arrived with now had been transformed into painted treasures. And my prayer was that each artist left transformed with a new appreciation of the talent and desires deep inside.
I headed to my favorite chair on the deck overlooking the lake to reflect upon this retreat. I remembered how it was just a few years ago, after many years of inner city ministry, that the Lord began giving me such faith to create that I couldn't wait to get to a canvas to capture what I saw and felt. Shortly after that, God gave me the incredible gift of a studio home at Lake Oconee. I named it Diamonds on the Lake because I had seen this exact location with the water glistening and dancing like diamonds over the beautiful lake in three dreams before I actually ever walked on the property.
Creator of All
After a series of miracles that allowed the purchase, I recalled some prophetic words years earlier from Cindy Jacobs. She said the Lord was going to give me the "house of my dreams." At the time, I thought Cindy missed it, that she was talking about God giving me a "dream house" which I'd already owned and left behind in the burbs for inner city life in one of the top five murder capitols of the world! But when I saw this lake house for the first time and recognized it from my three dreams, I understood Cindy was right on. God did, indeed, give me the house I saw in my dreams.
I didn't know at the time that the Lord had bigger plans for Diamonds on the Lake. After years of traveling and painting live in worship and leading art seminars, He wanted me to impart the faith to create deeper in these three-day retreats. The results have been beyond my wildest expectations. Today, sitting on the deck, watching diamonds sparkling on the lake, I am again overwhelmed with love and appreciation for the Lord and His desire that we all be released into our full creative destiny.
